ALL STARS
All Ages - Parent or Aide required
The All Stars class is specifically developed for children with special needs. The traditional My Gym curriculum is taught with adaptation to meet the structure and visual support needs of these special children. Thrive with your child as he or she experiences the sucess of accomplishing the tumbling, relays and other motor skill challenges we have for them.
TINY TYKES (45 min)
4 - 11 months
As the babies gain hand, arm and trunk control and are becoming mobile,
we introduce new and stimulating activities into our programming. Our
experienced My Gym teachers are sensitive to the strong emotional attachment
these little ones are developing with their mothers, and each parent/child
unit is nurtured according to their specific needs. Our Tiny Tykes and
their parents are led through a variety of beginning stretches, exercises,
infant songs and dances, baby-safe rides and adventures, balance and agility
skills and introductory tumbling. Each class is constructed so that our
members go from one exciting event to another.
While our Tykes program is very structured, there are specific segments
during which our little members are encouraged to explore our age-appropriate
equipment and facility. A relationship to movement and physical activity
really begins to develop, as our Tiny Tykes discover their natural abilities
and enhance their physical and cognitive development.
WADDLERS
11 - 20 months
At this age, a child is developing a wide range of skills at an astonishing
rate. During this period of growth, our Waddlers’ levels of independent
mobility will typically progress from aggressive crawling to running.
Additional fine and gross motor skills developed during this stage include
balancing on one foot, kicking a ball, building a block tower, riding
a tricycle and walking up stairs. Our facility, equipment, toys and even
the teachers’ language are adjusted to be age-appropriate and challenging
but always fun, inspiring and in an atmosphere of constant accomplishment.
Our highly trained instructors shower the children with affection, as
they guide our Waddlers in early social skills.
This age group is the youngest to experience the full “My Gym Warm-up.”
As this hour of new adventures unfolds, our Waddlers are engaged in interactive
songs, choreographed dances, age-specific puppet shows, special rides
and a variety of swings and other original activities. This stimulating
parent participation program introduces balancing, tumbling, hanging and
agility skills in a fun method, helping the children develop a love of
physical activity and a sense of pride in their achievements.
GYMSTERS
20 months - 2 ½ years
The gross motor abilities of early 2-year-olds are often characterized
by more confident running, jumping on two feet, and an overall improved
spatial awareness of their bodies. This is the earliest age group with
which we work on fine and gross manipulatives in a structured format,
as the 2 to 2½-year-old’s attention span grows, allowing
the child to focus for longer periods of time.
Communication between the children and teachers is really adorable, as
many of our students begin to talk in simple sentences, exhibit a developing
sense of humor, and use facial expression to communicate with our staff
and the other children. The youngsters are elated as they sing, dance,
swing, play games, watch puppet shows, take turns on special rides and
have “Surprise Time!” Our Gymsters feel just great about themselves
as they learn beginning gymnastics in a constantly changing program with
fresh ingredients and new equipment setups each week.
TERRIFIC TOTS
2 ½ - 3 ¼ years
This is an amazing age group at My Gym. The hour is jam-packed with pre-gymnastics,
structured games and fascinating adventures. The children learn beginning
sports skills, gain fine and gross motor proficiency, and strengthen manipulative
skills through fun and imaginative methods of teaching. Our Terrific Tots
begin to gain independence, as teachers are now interacting more directly
with the children. Parental involvement is gradually decreased through
inviting activities with love and understanding, and the children exude
pride and self-esteem as they are “treated like big kids.”
Terrific Tots are introduced to our unique “Big Swings,” “Adventures”
and special rides that are the signature of My Gym’s younger classes;
but in this age group, teaching physical skills is becoming more of a
priority. The development of social skills is also emphasized, as the
youngsters become good listeners, follow directions, cooperate in a group,
and learn more about themselves. The accomplishments are incredible, as
teachers work with Terrific Tots individually according to their abilities.
